What's in it for me?
Drivers who regularly use IndianOil pumps and can keep each eligible fuel transaction between ₹100 and ₹5,000.
The card can recover its ₹449 fee with roughly ₹749 a month of eligible IndianOil fuel spend before GST, if you realise both the 4% reward value and the 1% surcharge waiver. A ₹50,000 annual retail-spend threshold can also waive the next annual fee.
You usually refuel outside IndianOil, want airport-lounge access, prefer cash rewards without a redemption haircut, or expect to use the card heavily abroad.
The break-even point
At Kotak Rewards’ stated value of ₹0.25 per point, 24 points per ₹150 equals 4%. Add the eligible 1% surcharge waiver and the best-case fuel value is 5%. Cashback redemption is only ₹0.20 per point, so the reward portion falls to 3.2% if you choose statement credit.
Basis: ₹449 annual fee, before applicable GST. The first-year welcome points are worth up to ₹250 through Kotak Rewards after the qualifying transaction, which shortens the first-year payback. GST and any lost surcharge waiver increase the spend needed.

Fees, renewal and travel use
Kotak lists a ₹449 joining fee and a ₹449 annual fee in separate columns. The joining fee is billed within 90 days of issue; Kotak does not say it waives the annual fee. The recurring annual fee is waived after ₹50,000 of retail spend in the previous anniversary year.

Joining benefit: 1,000 Reward Points after paying the joining fee and making one transaction of at least ₹500 within 30 days of card issuance
The catches that change the answer
- The 4% fuel earn rate and fuel-surcharge waiver do not apply to UPI transactions
- Dining and grocery rewards apply only to Kotak’s listed merchant category codes
- No rewards accrue after ₹35,000 of cumulative utility spend in a statement cycle; education, wallet loads, rent, government, insurance and online skill-gaming spends do not earn rewards
The 5% headline is a best-case combination, not a flat cashback rate. Your actual return depends on an eligible IndianOil terminal, transaction size, the monthly caps, and how you redeem points.
