Short answer

HSBC Live+ is compelling when dining, food delivery and groceries form a meaningful part of your monthly budget. Its accelerated cashback reaches the cap quickly, while the 1.5% eligible base rate makes it more useful outside food than many co-branded cards.

Food & grocery
10%
Up to ₹1,000 a month
Eligible base rate
1.5%
Issuer describes it as unlimited
Annual fee
₹999
Waiver above ₹2 lakh yearly spend
01

The sweet spot

The accelerated cap is reached with ₹10,000 of eligible dining, food-delivery and grocery spending each month. Beyond that, the value depends on how HSBC classifies the transaction and whether it falls into the eligible base-rate pool.

02

What does not qualify

HSBC lists fuel, rental or property payments, insurance, cash withdrawals, credit repayments and toll fees among categories that do not earn cashback. Always check the current detailed terms for merchant-code treatment.

03

The annual-fee test

At the full accelerated cap, the food categories alone can produce ₹12,000 in annual cashback before the fee. A light food spender may prefer a no-fee card; a heavy food spender should compare the cap with Swiggy HDFC’s separate categories.
